The Aberdeen Tivoli Theatre Trust have been awarded a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of approximately £50,000. The £50,000 will enable an audience development plan and conservation management plan to be prepared and a building survey to be carried out.  The Trust is hoping to apply for an initial £2 million in funding to enable the Tivoli to reopen as a theatrical venue.

A recent survey commissioned by the Association of National Parks revealed that 87% of respondents recognised the term ‘national park’ which helps to demonstrate the high level of awareness of national parks in the UK.

Some of the barriers we have come across in our work include:

• Social - does the experience appeal to all social groups?
• Economic - does the addmission price prevent access for low income familities?
• Physical - do the paths meet the needs of wheel chair users?
• Cultural barriers - does the visitor experience appeal to different cultural groups?
• Intellectual - does the interpretation strategy appeal to different age groups?
